Metal structural infrastructure components deteriorate over their service life due to static and cyclic loading, exposure to corrosive chemicals, and harsh environments. This damage can result in structural deterioration and reduction in load-carrying capacity. The result is progressive weakening of the structural elements due to section loss and cracking- particularly in "hard to reach" areas such as joints, basements, or metals used to reinforce concrete structures.

MCET is developing an integrated, seamless continuous monitoring system to address these risks.
